  • Alliance Française de Kotte presents ‘ABU Collection of Collage’


    The Alliance Française de Kotte à Colombo presents the ‘ABU Collection of Collage’ by Prasad Abu Bakr at its gallery at 11, Keppetipola Mawatha, Colombo 05 (adjoining Police Park). Sponsored by Pegasus Reef Hotel, the exhibition is open to the public from Friday 20th to Sunday 29th November from 10am to 6pm daily. Chief Guest at the invitees-only opening on 19th November will be Mr. Harsha Jayasinghe, General Manager of the Pegasus Reef Hotel while the Guest of Honour will be Mr. Claude Alexandre Martinez, General Delegate of the Alliance Francaise Foundation in Sri Lanka.   • Alliance Francaise de KOTTE presents ‘The Streets of Paris’ – black and white photo expo at the Lionel Wendt

    The Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Alliance Francaise de KOTTE present ‘The Streets of Paris’, the fifth annual exhibition of black and white photographs by media personality Kumar de Silva. Presented as part of the French Spring Festival 2015, this exhibition is free of charge and open to the public from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery. All profits from the sale of photographs will go to the Scholarship Fund of the children of the award-winning ‘Nation’ / ‘Rivira’ press photographer, the late Rukshan Abeywansa.     Lankem celebrates World Environment Day

    Colombo. Thursday 11 June 2015. Lankem Robbialac celebrates World Environment Day this month with an exciting photographic competition celebrating the colours of Nature. ‘Nature Photography Challenge’, as it is called, invites photographs from all Sri Lankans to be uploaded onto the Robbialac Face Book Page (https://www.facebook.com/LankemRobbialacSL) on or before Tuesday 30 June 2015. Each participant can submit a total of five photographs only. All photographs should be related to nature and celebrate the colours of Nature. The top three lucky winners will be selected by an eminent panel of judges from the National Association of Photographers of Sri Lanka. They will receive certificates and valuable gift vouchers to purchase Robbialac paint. Participants are advised that images submitted should not be manipulated using software. They should be able to submit the original camera file if required. Photographs submitted should also not bear the names and other details of the participants. The

  • Paris through the lens of 30 of the world’s most renowned photographers


    150 images of Paris captured by 30 photographers from the celebrated Magnum agency on display at a free exhibition at Paris City Hall For 80 years the photographers of Magnum Photos – Cartier-Bresson, Capa, Riboud, Parr, Depardon – have presented their view of the metamorphoses of Paris and its inhabitants. A sensitive and challenging testimony, presented through 150 shots, at Paris City Hall from 12th December 2014 to 28th March 2015. As witnesses to their times, the photojournalists of Magnum Photos immortalise eighty years of the history of Paris. As both witnesses and artists of their time, the photojournalists of Magnum Photos testified to the changes of the 20th century.
